Man in court this morning in relation to fatal debs crash
A man is due to appear in court this morning charged in connection with a fatal crash near Clones that claimed the life of two young girls on their way to the debs last July.
A man, aged in his 60s, is due to appear before Monaghan District Court this morning, Monday, March 11, where evidence of arrest, charge and caution will be given.
Kiea McCann (17) and Dlava Mohamed (16) lost their lives in the crash, which occurred at Legnakelly on July 31, 2023.
Their distraught families, in death notices posted online, said the teenagers were best friends who died alongside each other.
Two others remain were seriously injured as a result of the collision, while a third sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
All four passengers were students of Largy College on their way to Clones to celebrate debs night with their friends.
It's understood the vehicle left the road and hit a tree.
Kiea and her family lived at Fitzpatricks Square in Clones.
Her best friend Dlava Mohamed lived with her family on The Diamond in Clones.
Garda investigations are ongoing with two arrests reported to date.
