O’Rourke welcomes footpath repairs at Deerpark Road

Cllr Aengus O'Rourke has welcomed the footpath repairs at Deerpark Road, Athlone, which are currently underway.

"The pavements along Deerpark Road endured a lot of abuse in recent years including two major flooding events in 2009 and 2015 which saw them completely submerged for long periods," said Cllr O'Rourke.

"There was evidence of subsidence due to the flooding, along with general wear and tear," said Cllr O'Rourke.

"Following meetings with residents last year I was pleased to secure funding at district level to enable this restoration work to go ahead this week.

"I am pleased now to see the work underway, with large sections of footpaths being replaced. I would like to thank the residents along Deerpark Road for their cooperation with this matter," concluded Cllr O'Rourke.
