Offaly road to close this afternoon following early morning accident

Gardai have advised motorists travelling on the N62 Cloghan to Birr road today (Wednesday, January 31) that the road will be closed to traffic from 2pm to 4pm approximately to facilitate the removal of an articulated truck which was involved in a road traffic accident earlier this morning.

Gardai in Birr attended the scene of a single vehicle road traffic accident on the N62 Cloghan to Birr road at approximately 6.50am this morning involving an articulated truck which left the road and entered a ditch just after the Derrinlough Briquette factory. No injuries were reported and no other vehicle was involved in the incident.

The stretch of road where the accident took place is curently open, but motorists planning to travel in either direction on the N62 Cloghan to Birr road have been advised that the road will be closed for a two hour period this afternoon, beginning at 2pm, to faciliate the removal of the articulated truck from the scene of this morning's incicdent.
