Parts of Coosan remain without power
Hundreds of homes across the Coosan area of Athlone remain without power today.
The ESB's PowerCheck website says they should be restored tonight.
Homes in areas such as Meehan Quarter, Hillquarter, Coosan Point Road and Castlequarter are among the 290 which ESB says are affected.
As at 5.35pm, approximately 93,000 homes, farms and businesses remain without power nationally.
The ESB said its ESB Networks and contract partner crews are continuing to work to safely restore power to as many customers as possible. However, due to the severity of Storm Isha, it expects to have many customers without power tonight while some customers will be without power for a number of days
As at 5.35pm, approximately 93,000 homes, farms and businesses remain without power as a result of storm force winds associated with Storm Isha which caused significant damage to the electricity network across the country – this is down from this morning’s peak when approximately 235,000 customers were without power.
The areas which remain most impacted are predominantly in the Northwest including counties Donegal, Sligo, Mayo, Leitrim and Cavan.
All available ESB Networks resources, along with our partner contractors, will be working into this evening and tonight to safely restore power to as many customers as possible. Met Éireann status Orange and Yellow level wind warnings associated with Storm Jocelyn tomorrow (Tuesday) may hamper restoration efforts in areas already most affected by Storm Isha.
A spokesperson said: "We have restored power to significant numbers of impacted customers throughout today. Due to the scale of the damage to the electricity network, many customers will remain without power tonight while some customers will be without power for a number of days.
"It is important that any impacted customers who use electrically powered medical devices contact their healthcare professional to make alternative arrangements if necessary.
"We apologise for the disruption to family and commercial life this causes, and thank customers across the country, especially those who will be without power overnight, for their patience as our crews work to safely restore power."
The real-time status on power restoration is being updated throughout the day and available on www.PowerCheck.ie and www.ESBNetworks.ie.
