Athlone school's pride at remarkable number of former pupils in St Brigid's panel

A local school has paid tribute to its remarkable cohort of former pupils who are backboning the St Brigid's side who take to the field in Croke Park on Sunday for the AIB All-Ireland Club Senior Football Championship final.

The Marist College has said it is "incredibly proud" of its 27 former students who are playing with St Brigid's.

"We wish all involved in St Brigid's the best of luck on Sunday," it said.

The school listed the following former students: Alan Daly, Ben O'Carroll, Billy McDonnell, Bobby Nugent, Brian Derwin, Brian Nestor, Brian O'Hara Duggan, Brian Stack, Ciaran Sugrue, Conor Gleeson, Conor Hand, Daniel Meeley, Eamonn Cunnane, Eddie Nolan, Eoghan Derwin, Jack McDonnell, Jimmy Curley, John Cunningham, Mark Daly, Michael Sugrue, Paddy Higgins, Paul McGrath, Pearse Frost, Ronan Stack, Ruaidhrí Fallon, Ruairí Smith and Shane Cunnane.
