Woman dies in three vehicle collision in Galway

A woman in her 80s has died in a three vehicle collision in Galway on Tuesday morning.
The woman was a passenger in the collision involving two cars and a van on the N17 in Miltown, Co Galway.
The female driver (40s) of the same vehicle was removed from the scene to University Hospital Galway where she is being treated for her injuries, which are believed to be non-life threatening.
The driver of the second car, a woman in her 20s, was uninjured and received treatment at the scene.
The man in his 50s, the driver of the van, was removed from the scene to University Hospital Galway with serious injuries.
The N17 at Milltown is currently closed with local diversions in place. A technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators is ongoing at this time.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N17 at Gortnagunned, Milltown, Galway between 9:30am and 10am are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
