Ciara kicks off 2024 with new single
After a very successful 2023, South Roscommon singer Ciara Lawless is certainly one to watch for the year ahead with a first album and tour on the horizon.
The Celtic songbird, who hails from Taughmaconnell, kicks off 2024 on a strong note by releasing her third single ‘Where Are Your Wings?', a departure from her usual folk style to 80's sound.
The song is from her upcoming debut album, due out in April, and it's set to be a busy year with a tour on the horizon for Ciara, who is also a presenter on ROS FM, Roscommon town's community radio station and a part-time florist in the family business in Ballinasloe.
Showing a steady rise on the Irish music scene, Ciara Lawless has been making waves after a successful run on the festival circuit during the summer, along with the release of her first three singles, 'Half The Man', 'I Am Your Healer' and 'With Love' last year.
Not only has Ciara honed her stage presence, she has also become known for her soulful voice and signature flower head crowns, catching the eyes of festival-goers.
The new song, ‘Where Are Your Wings?' is a departure from her usual folk pop sound and leaning more into a contemporary neo 80’s style. “The song is about reconnecting with your inner-child, healing and self-discovery,” said Ciara, who is a past pupil of Our Lady's Bower in Athlone.
Her music journey began at a young age when she started taking classes in acting and singing in Athlone. She later developed an interest in classical and opera, training at the Academy of Music in Tullamore, where she also competed in national and international competitions.
Ciara earned her singing stripes as a funeral singer, something that she is very proud and honoured to do so. With a tour on the horizon and an album due out in April that is sure to make waves, Ciara Lawless is ready to take centre stage in 2024, solidifying her place as one of Ireland's most promising young musical talents.
