Turning more settled towards the end of the week with high pressure looking set to dominate. Turning cold also with frost, mist and fog likely. That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.
Sunny spells and scattered heavy showers today, most frequent across Munster and the South Midlands, with the chance of hail, lightning and spot flooding. Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in a light to moderate westerly wind, fresher across Munster.
Tonight will bring clear spells and well scattered showers, most frequent across the West and Northwest. Cold with an added wind chill factor owing to a moderate to fresh southwest wind. Winds will be high along the West Coast for a time. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees, coldest across southern counties. Some frost developing, especially for sheltered areas.
Thursday will be day of sunshine and scattered heavy showers on Thursday, the focus of which will be across Atlantic counties, some of hail with the chance of lightning and spot flooding. Rather cold with highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in no more than moderate southwest breezes.
Thursday night will be mostly dry with long clear spells. There'll be a few showers around, mainly near Atlantic coasts. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees with light westerly winds.
Most areas look set to be dry and sunny on Friday. There'll be some showers near Atlantic coasts and these may drift further inland later in the day. Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with a light northwesterly wind.
Mostly dry and clear overnight on Friday apart from some showers near northern coasts. Lowest temperatures of -1 to 4 degrees with light northwesterly winds.
Saturday is expected mainly dry with spells of sunshine and the chance of just the odd shower. Highest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees with a light variable wind.
Mostly dry with some clear spells overnight on Saturday. Fog will form overnight in light variable winds. Cold, with lowest temperatures of -2 to +3 degrees.
Overnight fog looks like it may linger through much of Sunday in places as winds remain light and variable. Otherwise mainly dry with showers possible in coastal areas. Chilly with highest temperatures of just 1 to 5 degrees.
Further Outlook: Our weather is likely to continue settled and cold as high pressure is expected to stick around into next week.
