Stormy Thursday: Met Éireann issues warning over strong winds

Met Éireann has issued a 20-hour weather warning for strong winds throughout Ireland tomorrow (Thursday).

The yellow-level warning comes into effect at midnight tonight and will remain in place until 8pm on Thursday night. All counties are included in the weather alert.

The forecasting service said northwest winds would be "very strong at times" and there was potential for debris and loose objects to be displaced, along with difficult conditions for motorists and cyclists.

High waves and wave overtopping are expected in coastal parts of the country.

On a positive note temperatures will remain mild, for this time of year, in the lead up to Christmas, with a 'White Christmas' looking unlikely.
