Quid Game fundraiser a huge success for Westmeath

The Westmeath GAA Quid Game fundraiser in the Mullingar Park Hotel proved a major success, with almost €170,000 raised for the organisation. County Committee chairman Frank Mescall thanked all the clubs and the many participants when highlighting the success of the venture at last week’s county board meeting.

“It is very, very good,” he said.

“The main part of that is down to the clubs and thanks to you for your effort. And to the participants who took part in it. The support the clubs gave them was vital.”

Darren Moore of Mullingar Shamrocks raised over €10,000, which was €2,000 ahead of the second placed participant. The chairman praised such an outstanding effort on the part of the participants and their clubs.

“These are really, really good totals,” he remarked.

While a couple of clubs made “next to no effort” for the event, Mr Mescall noted that they might double their effort for the next fundraiser. “That’s the way we have to look at it,” he said.

Concluding, he again thanked the participants for being brave enough to take on the various challenges involved on the evening.
