Dana Scheriff and Madison Gibson of Athlone Town were both selected on the PFA Ireland Women's Premier Division Team of the Year.

Two Athlone Town stars make players' team of the year

Two of the players who helped Athlone Town win the FAI Cup last weekend have crowned their successful season by being chosen on the PFA Ireland Women's Premier Division Team of the Year.

Attacking players Madison Gibson and Dana Scheriff were both selected on the team, which is chosen based on votes from players in the league.

The American duo both starred in Athlone's memorable cup final win against Shelbourne in Tallaght on Sunday.

Scheriff scored the opening goal of the epic contest, which went all the way to penalties, while Gibson performed impressively throughout the 120 minutes.

The PFA Ireland Women's Premier Division Team of the Year was dominated by league winners Peamount United, who had five players among the chosen eleven.

The team also included former Athlone Town player Jessica Hennessy, who left the club to join Shamrock Rovers before the start of the 2023 season.
