New photography exhibition on display at Athlone Art Gallery
"Memories through the Lens" is the title of a new photo exhibition which has opened at Athlone Art Gallery in The Village at Burgess on Lloyd's Lane, Athlone.
The exhibition is the work of Dublin-born photographer Joe Barnes.
Since he purchased his first SLR Nikon camera as a teenager in the 1970s, Joe has been photographing the people and places dear to his heart.
A barrister by profession, photography has been an enduring passion, and his work has been published in magazines and newspapers.
His exhibition is an eclectic mix of landscape, portrait and street photography. It chronicles life, capturing the light on landscapes, beloved faces and human connections, preserving them through an alchemy of eye, lens and digital darkroom.
Jack Mulcahy, chairman of The Irish Arts review and a long term friend of Joe Barnes, opened the exhibition on Friday last, November 3, at 6pm.
The exhibition runs until November 22, and all are welcome to view it.
