Local YouTube star to host major Christmas fundraiser on stage in Los Angeles
YouTube star and Offaly native Jacksepticeye has announced that his big annual Christmas fundraiser will this year take the form of a live stage show at The Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles.
Over the last five years the Cloghan native and former Athlone resident man has hosted annual 'Thankmas' events in December. These have been incredibly successful, raising more than $22 million for good causes.
Last year's 'Thankmas' was the biggest to date, with Jacksepticeye (real name Sean McLoughlin) hosting a marathon livesteam that raised a remarkable $10 million for World Central Kitchen, a non-profit organisation which provides meals to people in crisis situations globally.
Announcing that this year's Thankmas would be happening live on stage in LA on December 2, Sean said: "Thankmas is a really big thing we do each year, raising lots of money. Hello! $10 million last year! $10 million in 10 hours.
"Apparently it was the second largest single-day fundraiser of all time, ever, anywhere... How crazy is that?"
The upcoming Thankmas event will again raise funds for World Central Kitchen.
It will consist of two live shows on the same day, with one happening from 11am to 2pm, and the other taking place from 4pm to 7pm.
Tickets are now on sale and all proceeds will be donated to charity. You can watch Sean's video announcement of the event below:
