Moate sculpture gets Halloween makeover!

'The Bargain Men' at Tuar Ard, Moate are all set for Halloween today (October 31).

The pair have been given a ghoulish makeover in honour of the festivities to mark the celebration of Samhain or Halloween, one of the four major pre-Christian pagan festivals along with Bealtaine, Lughnasadh and Imbolc.

'The Bargain' sculpture depicts a deal being struck, and recalls the origins of Moate as a market town, its former position as one of the largest cattle fairs in Ireland.

It was made by sculptor Jackie McKenna.
