The weather warning came into effect at 4am this morning and will remain valid until 4am tomorrow morning (Tuesday).

The rain will gradually spread further to the north and east this afternoon followed by a mix of cloud and isolated showers pushing in from the southwest. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees with a moderate southeasterly breeze gradually falling light later this afternoon.

Rain will continue to affect the north and east of the country tonight with scattered showers elsewhere. Clear and drier spells will develop later in the night but showers will linger along Atlantic coastal counties. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with light southeasterly breezes.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) will bring a mix of cloud and scattered showers but some dry spells at times too. The showers will become more isolated during the afternoon with some sunny spells developing. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees and generally light winds.

Mostly fine and dry with clear spells overnight on Tuesday. Cloud will thicken from the south early in the night with rain developing across southern counties. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees and light winds.

Cloudy early on Wednesday with outbreaks of rain across Munster. The rain will gradually spread northeast across the country later in the morning and afternoon. Some heavy and thundery falls are possible with spot flooding also. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees and blustery winds.

Overcast Wednesday night with widespread rain, heavy at times too. The rain will gradually move away to the north followed by scattered showers overnight. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees and blustery westerly winds.

Thursday is promised rather cloudy with scattered showers, some heavy in the west. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees and a fresh to moderate southwesterly breeze.
