Roscommon LGFA apologises to former team manager
Roscommon LGFA has apologised to former team manager Ollie Lennon and his backroom team for any "hurt or distress" caused by the way their tenure was ended.
Following Roscommon LGFA's decision to end their time in charge, the management team released a statement saying they were "extremely disappointed with the decision of the Roscommon LGFA executive to remove us from our position".
The statement was issued by team manager, Ollie Lennon, along with Tom Lennon, Brian Lennon and John Kennedy.
It was critical of a review carried out by Roscommon LGFA, claiming that this year's Roscommon captain and vice-captain were not consulted as part of the process - see previous article here.
In a recent article in the Irish Independent, Lennon said he felt his reputation as a manager had been questioned due to an unfair perception that players didn't wish to play under the management team.
“The crux of the whole thing is I never got the review I was promised," said Lennon.
Roscommon players had called for an apology for the ousted management team and Roscommon LGFA decided to issue an apology earlier this week.
"Roscommon LGFA discussed the recent commentary surrounding adult county team management at its most recent meeting. Roscommon LGFA wishes to apologise to former adult team manager, Ollie Lennon, and members of his backroom team for any recent hurt or distress caused," said the Roscommon LGFA statement.
"We thank Ollie and his backroom team for their service to Roscommon LGFA and we wish them the very best for the future.
"Roscommon LGFA also regrets any unintended hurt or distress to county team players, in light of recent events. Roscommon LGFA will issue no further comment," the statement added.
