Marist student leaders visit France

Twelve student leaders from Marist College, Athlone were given the opportunity to travel to Notre Dame L'Hermitage in Saint Chamond, France for four days recently.

This is the home of Marcellin Champagne, founder of Marist and Marist Brothers. L’Hermitage is where Marcellin Champagnat set up his first community of brothers and is still home to many brothers today. The trip included a visit to the Space Champagne Museum, Le Rosey the home where Marcellin Champagne was born and a walk in the valley of La Valla.

The students from Marist College, Athlone, along with other Marist Leaders from schools in Dublin and Scotland were also involved in a range of events and leadership activities. This Marist Leadership programme is coordinated by the Director of Marist Education and Kinharvie Institute.

It was a very enjoyable trip for the students where they got to develop their own leadership skills, bond with other Marist Leaders and learn about the heritage of Marist Brothers.
