St Joseph's FC to celebrate 25th anniversary with gala ball

St Joseph's FC will have double cause for celebration when the club hosts a gala ball to mark its 25th anniversary on Friday, October 13.

In addition to celebrating the 25th anniversary of the club's foundation, St Joseph's can look back with pride on a year which saw the Cushla Park outfit claim U-15 SFAI Cup glory.

The U-15 team was managed by Davy Cummins and Padraig Moran and captained by Shay McGuinness.

St Joseph's defeated Home Farm in the final on a 3-1 scoreline. The St Joseph's goals were scored by Dylan Dennehy (penalty), Timothy Tselapedi and Leon Nolan. Upon their return to Athlone, the St Joseph's players carried the silverware across the town bridge as the club celebrated coveted success at national level.

St Joseph's FC was founded in 1998 and the club caters for Monksland, Cornafulla and surrounding areas.

The gala ball will take place on October 13 at the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone, starting with a champagne reception at 7pm, with dinner to be served at 8pm. Music will be provided by Big Deal and tickets are priced at €50.

St Joseph's hopes that founding members and past players and coaches will be able to attend on the night.

"It has been a super few years for the club in terms of success and also numbers wise and we're hoping it will be a very enjoyable night for the club and the local community on October 13. The success we had in the SFAI Cup dovetails nicely with the 25th anniversary," said St Joseph's committee member Peter Lenehan.
