Timetable for new Mullingar to Athlone bus route
The timetable for the new daily Mullingar-Athlone bus route has been published.
The new Route 819 service, which is being operated by TFI Local Link Longford Westmeath Roscommon, starts next Monday August 28. It will operate five return trips seven days a week.
The route will connect Westmeath's two biggest towns with villages and areas such as Ballinea, Dysart, Castletown-Geoghegan, Loughnavalley, Killare, Ballymore and Drumraney.
The first bus for Athlone leaves Mullingar Train Station at 7.20am and the last one departs at 10.45pm. The first bus for Mullingar leaves Athlone Train Station at 5.40am and the last one departs at 9.15pm.
The route will also operate a service between Mullingar and Belvedere House three times a day from April to September.
Speaking when the new route was announced last week, TFI Local Link Longford Westmeath Roscommon general manager Damien O'Neill said: “We are delighted to launch this important link between the towns of Mullingar and Athlone.
“This route is a priority for our area, and it will play an important part in developing reliable connections for our passengers.
“We all know the importance of using sustainable modes of public transport from an environmental point of view.
“It is also vital that passengers have a frequent bus service which they can rely on to travel to work, college, training, sightseeing, or meeting family and friends."
