Bright day with sunny spells and scattered showers

Weather update from Met Éireann

Mainly dry on Thursday. Rain on Friday with showers following for the weekend. That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.

Today will be a bright day with sunny spells and scattered showers. There'll be decent dry periods also. The showers will become more isolated by evening. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees with light west to northwest breezes.

Tonight will be dry apart from a few isolated showers. Some patches of mist and fog will form overnight in calm conditions. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees.

On Wednesday any mist or fog will clear to give a bright day with sunny spells and well scattered showers, these most likely in northern and eastern counties. Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees with light winds and sea breezes.

Wednesday night will be largely dry with clear spells. Some patches of mist or fog may form. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees with light east to southeast breezes.

Mainly dry with sunny spells on Thursday turning hazy as the day progresses. There is a chance of a few showers. Cloud will increase from the southwest later in the day. Highest temperatures ranging 19 to 23 degrees with southeast breezes increasing moderate during the afternoon. On Thursday night, rain will develop in the southwest and spread northeastwards across much of the country overnight.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of showery rain. Towards evening, heavier rain will develop in the south and will spread northwards. It will be heavy at times with spot flooding possible. It will clear during Friday night. Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees with moderate to fresh east to southeast winds.

Saturday will bring sunshine and showers, some heavy. Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees with moderate south to southwest winds.

Sunday again will bring sunshine and showers. Highest temperatures of 19 to 22 degrees with light to moderate southerly breezes.

Further outlook: While there is still a good deal of uncertainty, there are tentative signs that high pressure will build close to Ireland bringing drier and more settled weather for the early days of next week with temperatures in the high teens to low 20s.
