New sensory area to be developed at Ballinahown NS

The Parents’ Association of Ballinahown NS recently presented €9,500 to the school, allowing it to upgrade its science and sports equipment as well as investing in new sensory resources.

The money was raised through the St Patrick’s Day Big Breakfast and Bake Sale and a Christmas Coffee Morning, which was held late last year.

The Parents’ Association recently presented the money to school principal, Tom Keena.

“We are extremely grateful to the Parents’ Association for its fundraising efforts. This money will help us to improve the school’s facilities for the children, as well as providing some fun activities for them throughout the year,” he said.

The school has a number of things on its wish list for this year, with some of the items already purchased thanks to the fundraising efforts.

The school plans to use the funds raised for Bee Bots and a charger; apps for iPads; toys for junior level children; class set of novels for each classroom; the conversion of a storeroom to a SET room; sensory needs resources; volleyball poles, nets and balls; basketballs; footballs; soft balls; hands on maths games and subsidising field trips and tours.

Work has already started on a new sensory area for the school and the money raised will help see this project through to fruition.

The Parents’ Association is extremely grateful to the local community and the many sponsors of its events for their continued support.
