Rahugh native hoping for world glory with U20s

Ronan Foxe and his Ireland teammates will create history on Friday evening if they see off the challenge of France in the final of the World Rugby U20 Championship.

The Rahugh native put in another solid performance for the U20s in their 31-12 victory over South Africa in their semi-final on Sunday.

After going in 7-0 ahead at half time despite being under the cosh for much of the first 40 minutes, Ireland were by far the better side in the second half and claimed a deserved victory over the host nation. Foxe, who also has strong connections to Rosemount, caught the eye against a physical South African side before making way for Fiachna Barrett of Connacht after 67 minutes.

Ireland will go into Friday's final with high hopes that they can secure a first world title at U20 level. The last time Ireland and France met was in this year's Six Nations, when Fergus Murphy's men claimed a 33-31 point victory on route to the grand slam.
