Major focus on inclusion for Féile na Sionainne

With mere weeks away from the reignition of the Fleadh spirit in Athlone, a number of events are putting inclusion at the forefront so that everybody can enjoy various aspects of the weekend’s programme for Féile na Sionainne .

Lisa Quigley, Inclusion Officer on the committee, has been doing tremendous work in getting these components together.

“It is important to create traditional Irish music experiences that are supportive of everyone attending Féile na Sionainne. The aim of our inclusion programme is to ensure a safe, accessible and above all, enjoyable event for all the attendees,” Lisa said.

As part of the festival running from August 6th to 8th, the team will be running a dementia-friendly trad session in Athlone Library, a disability-friendly trad disco, a trad music therapy session for teenagers with special needs, and another trad music therapy Session with younger children. Spaces are filling up for these events, there are a handful left so don’t miss out on the opportunity to attend.

These events will be expertly run with HB Safety Services, Lisa Quigley, and Louise O’Connor, and will take place in St Kieran’s Community Centre.

If you’d like to know more, you can reach out to the team by emailing feilenasionainne@gmail.com or linking in with their social media.
