Three cars damaged in Connaught Street crash

A female driver, aged in her 20’s, is due to appear in court on charges arising from a weekend road traffic accident on Connaught Street in Athlone during which three parked cars were damaged.

Gardai were called to the scene of the accident at 10.45pm on Saturday night last, May 20, when a car being driven by a female driver crashed into three cars which were parked on Connaught Street. The ambulance service was also called and a male who was sitting in one of the parked cars was removed from the scene and taken to hospital for observation.

The female driver of the car which was involved in the accident was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drunk driving and was later charged with an offence under Section 4 of the Road Traffic Act. She is due to appear at a sitting of the local district court on Wednesday, June 14 next.
