Westmeath delegates in Singapore for EY Entrepreneur Of The Year CEO Retreat

A delegation of more than 90 of Ireland’s top entrepreneurs, including Ted Wright from Milltownpass, and Brian Fahey and Neil Skeffington from Athlone, are in Singapore this week for the annual EY Entrepreneur Of The Year CEO Retreat.

Ted Wright is CEO of Writech in Mullingar; Brian Fahey, is CEO of MyComplianceOffice in Dublin; and Neil Skeffington is CEO of Novelplast Teoranta in Meath.

Running till Sunday 21 May, the retreat is dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship, and the aim is to support, inspire, and challenge the entrepreneurs to take their businesses to the next level.

The delegation includes this year’s 24 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year finalists as well as alumni representing a broad spectrum of industries.

The entrepreneurs will spend the week in Singapore, where they will participate in a comprehensive programme of networking, executive coaching, and education.

The itinerary includes meetings with some of Singapore’s most successful entrepreneurs and business leaders as well as talks on a variety of topics.

This year’s retreat will also feature visits to the Singapore Management University, the Action Community For Entrepreneurship established by the Singaporean Ministry of Trade and Industry and a number of successful companies.

“Singapore is an important market in its own right and is also recognised as the gateway to southeast Asia, a region with a population of more than 600 million.

“As small island trading nations surrounded by much larger countries, both Singapore and Ireland have learned to punch above their weight by fostering a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship and having open an dynamic trading economies.

“There is lots that Irish entrepreneurs can learn from the Singaporean pace of change, innovation, and national planning as well from across the wider woutheast Asian markets. I have no doubt that our Singaporean hosts will also learn a great deal from the world class Irish entrepreneurs.”

Mr Wallace said the theme for this year’s EY Entrepreneur Of The Year programme is ‘The Art of Entrepreneurship’. “Artists and entrepreneurs are both creative and curious. They think differently and are driven by a purpose to introduce innovative ideas and concepts which inspire and challenge.

“The CEO Retreat is designed to inspire and challenge these leading business minds to look beyond the horizon to discover next level opportunities for their businesses and their communities.”

Since its inception, the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Ireland community has grown to a tight-knit network of more than 600 alumni who harness each other’s wealth of experience, with three quarters (75%) conducting business with one another. Together, the EOY alumni community generates revenues of €25bn, and employs more than 250,000 people across the island of Ireland.
