Local performers wanted for new Féile na Sionainne

Musicians of all ages, singers, dancers, poets, story-teller and artists are being encouraged to join in with the Féile na Sionainne in Athlone, which will run from August 6 to 8, in association with the Mullingar Fleadh.

The event is centred around a special Athlone Fleadh Day on August 8, an official part of the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil being held in Mullingar this August. Events on August 8 in Athlone will include a visit from Labhrás Ó Murchú Director-General of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, to mark the 70th Anniversary of Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann which was held in Athlone in 1953.

August 8 is part of a three-day festival, Féile na Sionainne, and organisers plan to have music, song, dance and other cultural acts performing in a number of different outdoor locations around the town between 2 and 6pm each day.

There will also be a number of main stage events throughout the day on Tuesday, August 8.

Musicians of all ages, singers, dancers, poets, story-teller and artists who would like to participate at one of the outdoor locations around Athlone are being asked to email feilenasionainne@gmail.com

Please include your mobile number and whether you would like to be included in the Feile na Sionainne Supporters group.

The Feile na Sionainne Committee hopes to make this a memorable event for everyone. Please spread the word among your friends and family and celebrate

There's also a table quiz in aid of Féile na Sionainne in The Bounty on Thursday, May 18, at 8pm. Tables of four are €40.
