Fundraiser in aid of local church to take place in June

An exciting fundraising event will take place in Athlone in June to raise funds for the upkeep of Ss Peter and Paul's Church.

The fundraiser will be held in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel on Sunday, June 4. Well-known showband 'The New Avengers' are back by popular demand and will reunite to perform at the event.

Organiser Aidan Higgins said they are hoping some of the money raised will go towards a new security system for the church along with covering the cost of heating for the winter period.

He added that The New Avengers were the go to showband in Athlone and that it will be a nice “for the nostalgia of yesteryear.”

Tickets for the event cost €10 and are available from The Shamrock Lodge Hotel and Mulligans Service Station on Roscommon Road. Doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 9pm.
