Bressie to undertake kayak of River Shannon to raise funds for mental health charity

Co-founder of mental health charity, 'A Lust for Life', Niall 'Bressie' Breslin is taking part in a 330km kayak of the River Shannon later this summer.

The journey which is dubbed 'The Rising' will start on Saturday, July 1st, and end at the mouth of the Shannon in Limerick on Friday, July 7. The funds raised by 'The Rising' will go towards the charity's primary school mental health education programme.

The primary school programme is already helping over 50,000 primary school children in one in three schools nationwide. The money raised will also aid the development of a secondary schools programme for Transition Year students.

The concept for the kayak fundraiser was developed by Bressie along with fellow Mullingar man Ray Carolan of Lakeland Kayaks.

A Lust for Life began as the personal story of ‘Bressie’ who struggled with his own mind. He started a blog ‘My 1000 Hours’ about his own story and soon discovered that sharing stories really helped others.

Then on October 1, 2015, A Lust for Life was established and began as a website for people to share personal stories and get expert insight and information from a wide range of mental health professionals.
