Contracts signed for Monksland Innovation Hub

Contracts for the refurbishment and fit-out of the Monksland Innovation Hub were signed today, Thursday April 13, at Aras an Chontae in Roscommon town.

Mountbellew based Coolsivna Construction Group Ltd. has been appointed to carry out the works. The construction phase will commence in coming weeks and is expected to be substantially complete in February 2024.

The project will concentrate on the development of co-working space, training facilities and a soft landing space for companies starting out in this recognised Life Sciences nucleus.

The 12,000 sq. feet facility will be a major driver of enterprise and job creation in the area with a high quality environment for entrepreneurs in the centre of Ireland to set up with full supports from local and regional agencies

This follows on from Roscommon County Council’s successful bid to the Department of Rural and Community Development’s Rural, Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) to develop a flagship Innovation Hub for the wider region.

The total cost of the project is approximately €4.2m, including grant and matching funding from Roscommon County Council. The project was developed by Roscommon County Council in consultation with Monksland Town Team and the local business community.

This project is being funded by Roscommon County Council and the Department of Rural and Community Development under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund.

The Rural Regeneration and Development fund is a €1 billion investment programme established under the National Development Plan. The fund supports large scale, ambitious projects that can achieve sustainable social and economic development in rural areas.
