Local children enjoy puppet show at Athlone Croí na hÉireann Festival closing event
The closing event of the Athlone Croí na hÉireann Festival 2023 was hosted by TUS Midlands last Friday morning which also coincided with an on-site Daffodil Day fundraising initiative for the Irish Cancer Society.
The School of Aesthetic Development – Freedom which is Ukrainian-led put on an excellent puppet show plus dance which was followed by the fantastic Na Badoirí, a local traditional music group.
Those present thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment, in particular the ninety school children from both Ardnagrath and Cornamaddy National Schools who were in attendance.
"It was just lovely to see the school children engaging through laughter and dance with both the puppet show and Na Badoirí", stated Cllr Frankie Keena, Treasurer of the Festival Group.
"I would like to sincerely thank Dr Johanna Archbold and her team in TUS for hosting this fun event and for welcoming us with great warmth and hospitality, he said. In fact, separate to this, TUS also kindly hosted a highly skilled FAI led under 11 Futsal for us last week," he added.
"As a festival committee we are just delighted to have made these links with this fantastic university and we look forward to building on these for future festivals," concluded Cllr Keena.
