Blast from the past: Des Cahill visits Westmeath to talk hurling in 1989
A very youthful Des Cahill travelled to Westmeath in May 1989 to talk about the health of the game in the county.
Like many inter-county teams in the late 1980s, Westmeath lost many of its best players to emigration.
In the report, which was posted on YouTube by Tallowman GAA, Cahill spoke to a number of leading local GAA figures, including the late Seámus Ó Faoláin (Whelan), the former chair of the Westmeath County Board, and former Westmeath hurler Ger Jackson.
