Local Minister speaks at event to celebrate Ireland's 50 years in the EU

Local Minister Peter Burke was one of the speakers at a recent Strasbourg event to celebrate Ireland's 50 years in the EU.

The new Minister of State for European Affairs was joined on the podium by Commisioner Mairead McGuinness, former European Parliament President Pat Cox and head of the Irish EU Affairs Committee Joe McHugh.

While there, Minister Peter Burke also met Ann Marie McCourt, a native of Coosan, Athlone, who works in the European Parliament and was in Strasbourg for the event.
