Athlone woman always wanted to try life overseas

DRIFA FALLON

Athlone's Drifa Fallon, and her boyfriend Dylan Kearns, have been living in Canada for the last seven months.

They were recently living in Whistler, British Columbia, and moved to Ontario this month.

How did your move to Canada come about?

I have always wanted to move away from my home town ever since I left school in 2017, but I only got the chance to do it this year. Adjusting to life here has been pretty easy.

What are the best and worst things about living in Canada?

The best thing about living in Canada is the connections you can make, and the many opportunities here in the line of work. The wages are a lot better than back home, and you would never be stuck for a job here.

I'd say the worst thing about living in Canada is the food! It really is not the same as back home. I miss good-quality chocolate and my occasional spice bag!

Drifa made the move to North America with her boyfriend, Dylan Kearns, from Donegal.

What are your plans for Christmas Day this year?

For Christmas this year I will, unfortunately, be working. That's the downside of working in the food and beverage industry.

What are some of the things you miss most about Christmas in Ireland?

Definitely the Christmas dinner, being with my family, and the annual Christmas nights out with friends.

Is there any message you would like to send to your friends or family reading this?

To my family and friends, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

I wish I could be there with you all back home, and I miss you very much especially my Mam, Celine Fallon, and my Nanny, Agnes Fallon.
