Festive concerts taking place in two Athlone churches next week

Fundraising Christmas concerts will be taking place in two Athlone churches next Wednesday and Thursday (December 14 & 15).

The 30th annual Samaritans Christmas Concert in the Franciscan Friary is being held on Wednesday night and is completely sold out, however it's expected that those without a ticket will have the option of tuning in at home to a live stream of the event.

Tickets are still available for Simon Casey's 'Songs of Inspiration at Christmas' concert in the Church of Saints Peter and Paul on Thursday.

The concert, which is a fundraiser for St Peter and Paul's Church, will feature the gifted Ballycumber vocalist performing from 8pm.

Tickets for 'Songs of Inspiration at Christmas' can be purchased online here, or from one of the following locations: Mulligans, Roscommon Road; The Liturgical Centre, Castle Street; The Shamrock Lodge Hotel; The parish offices at Forthill House and Drum; and the Sacristy at Ss Peter & Paul's Church.

The Samaritans' concert will take place at 8pm on Wednesday and will feature the Army Band of the 2nd Brigade, St Brigid's Community Choir, Athlone Pipe Band and Soprano Kelli Ann Masterson.

A stream of the concert is expected to be shown here: www.mcnmedia.tv/camera/franciscan-friary-athlone
