Male 'person of interest' helping gardaí with enquiries after Milltownpass death

A male "person of interest" has been interviewed by gardaí in relation to the suspected murder of a man in his 60s at a house at Rattin between Kinnegad and Milltownpass, according to reports in the national media.

The person of interest was located in the south east and it is understood that he is helping gardaí with their enquiries.

The deceased man's body was discovered by gardaí shortly after 6pm yesterday. He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Gardaí at Mullingar commenced an investigation following the discovery of the body in what has been described as ""unexplained circumstances".

The Office of the State Pathologist and Garda Technical Bureau were requested to assist in the investigation. More to follow.
