Custume Barracks Open Day this weekend

Custume Barracks in Athlone will host its annual Open Day this Sunday from 2pm to 5pm.

It will involve a showcase of equipment and vehicles from all areas of the military.

The air ambulance, formally named the Emergency Aeromedical Service which has operated out of Athlone's Custume Barracks since June 2012.

A helicopter display of the Air Corps Air Ambulance will take place at 3.30pm.

Walking tours around the barracks will be held at 3pm and 4pm respectively.

There will be displays of weapons, military vehicles, artillery weapons and vintage military vehicles.

Families of all members and the general public are invited to attend the Open Day and enjoy a number of family activities.
