St Aidan's GAA releases statement on incident in minor match

St Aidan's GAA club has stated that it will co-operate fully with the Roscommon GAA investigation into an incident which left a referee requiring medical treatment.

St Aidan's was the host club for the minor football championship match during which the incident happened last night (Wednesday).

The club released a statement regarding the matter at lunchtime today (Thursday).

"St. Aidan’s GAA club is currently investigating an incident that occurred during a U-17 championship game on our club grounds on Wednesday evening," the statement began.

“First and foremost, our thoughts are with the referee, and we wish him a speedy recovery. We would also like to thank the medical personnel who assisted him following the incident.

“The club will co-operate fully with the Roscommon CCC (Competitions Control Committee) and Roscommon GAA in their investigation into the matter," continued the statement.

“We will not be making any further comment at this time," the statement added.
