JYSK to open new Athlone store today

All roads lead to the Arcadia Retail Park in Athlone this morning (Thursday) when Scandanavian-inspired retail store, JYSK, opens its doors to the public for the first time at 9am.

Up to 15 new jobs will be created in the new store, which brings to 17 the total number of JYSK retails outlets currently operating in Ireland.

JYSK (pronounced YOOSK) is well known for high quality, on trend products for the home, from the bedroom to the garden. The brand has also enjoyed a worldwide reputation for expertise and knowledge with their Scandinavian sleeping culture and specialises in high quality sleeping products – from mattresses, duvets and pillows to bed frames and bases.

The Athlone store will open from 10am - 6pm daily, and customers can look forward to a range of bargains to celebrate the opening of the local store with savings of up to 70% on some items.

The company’s other Irish locations include Dundalk, Naas, Drogheda, Dublin, Youghal, Navan, Portlaoise, Waterford (only XL store in Ireland), Ashbourne, Sligo, Limerick, Carlow, Thurles and Tralee.

Founded in Denmark in 1979, JYSK has 3,000 stores around the world offering a wide range of sleeping products, as well as stylish Scandinavian furniture, home textiles and décor.

Speaking about the Athlone opening, store manager Suzanne Kehoe says: “We are delighted to open a new store in Co Westmeath. As one of the first employees when JYSK first opened in Ireland, I can’t wait to welcome new customers to the Athlone store. We’ve so many new products arriving this season, from gorgeous garden lounge sets to beautiful Scandi inspired homewares”.
