Away draws for Athlone Town men's and women's teams in FAI Cup
Athlone Town's men's and women's sides today learned who they will be facing in the opening round of this year's FAI Cup.
Both of the teams are facing away trips in the competition. The men's side will be travelling to Head in the Game Park to face Premier Division outfit Drogheda United in the first round of the Extra.ie FAI Men's Cup.
The game is due to take place on the weekend of July 31, with the date and kick-off time to be confirmed in due course.
Tommy Hewitt's Athlone Town women's team, meanwhile, will be on their way to Dublin to take on non-league side Whitehall Rangers in the first round of the Evoke.ie FAI Women's Cup. The tie will be played on the weekend of July 10.
The draws were held earlier this afternoon at FAI headquarters, and were streamed live on the FAI YouTube channel. It was the first time the men's and women's draws for the competition were held together.
The final of the Evoke.ie FAI Women's Cup has been set for Tallaght Stadium on Sunday, November 6, with kick-off at 3pm.
The Extra.ie FAI Men's Cup final will take place a week later on Sunday, November 13, with kick-off at 3pm at the Aviva Stadium.
