Local Live Performance events to look forward to in June
The Westmeath Local Live Performance Programming Scheme III has been busy entertaining audiences throughout April and May with performances from Athlone Little Theatre, The Ray McLoughlin Quintet, The Railway Rest, The Westmeath Bachelor, Midland Voices and Energy Plus.
Things are now gearing up for a busy June with even more events to keep local audiences entertained with performances such as music, storytelling, arts and album launches.
The Jealous Wall Story Telling at Belvedere (June 11 at 7.30pm) promises eerie, dark stories by upcoming Irish writers, read below the iconic wall, to atmospheric music provided by Dream Cycles. There will also be an afterparty DJ set with Elizaa.
The stories are by: Anna Walsh, Avril Corroon, Rónán Kenny and Isadora Epstein; and the actors are: Eimear Keating and Daniel Egerton. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
The Dean Crowe Theatre will provide the setting for performances by Rob Irwin, Brian Mac Band and David Dockery on June 16, 19 and 23, under ‘The Dean Crowe Local Music Platform’ platform. The events will be hosted in newly refurbished theatre bar with the full support from the theatre staff and crew.
On June 28 in Mullingar Park Hotel, Robert Mizzell performs ‘A musical and visual walk-through country music history spanning 50 years featuring favourite songs in one extravaganza’.
Psychedelic pop family Dr Mindflip come out of hibernation for an intimate performance of their new album ‘How Are You Fixed?’ Expect synths, bass, harmonies, sax, and beats. It’s in The Stables on June 30.

The Local Live Performance Programming Scheme aims to support the live performance sector and to create employment opportunities for artists, performers, technicians and support staff through the provision of a high-quality and innovative programmes of entertainment.
This programme is supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and the Westmeath County Council.
