Streamstown greenway coffee shop set to open

A new coffee shop is due to open on the Old Rail Trail Greenway over the June bank holiday weekend was the good news imparted to members of Athlone Moate Municipal District at their May meeting.

Director of services, Barry Kehoe, said the coffee shop in Streamstown is “ready to go.” In response to a question from Cllr Tom Farrell, Mr Kehoe said the council are “almost there” and are currently signing documents and arranging insurance cover.

He added that there had been “many expressions of interest” for the running of the facility.

Cllr Farrell, who was one of the councillors to champion the establishment of a coffee shop in Streamstown, did not attend the meeting as he was visiting family in the United States.
