Local councillor bereaved as popular Athlone woman passes away

The death has been announced of Breda Hogan, mother of Westmeath county councillor Paul Hogan.

Breda (née Earle) Retreat Park, Athlone, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, surrounded by her loving family in the tender care of the staff and nurses of Sonas Nursing Home. Predeceased by her parents Lily and Lolly. Sadly missed by her loving husband Roddy, sons Neil, Tony, Philip and Paul, daughters Rhoda (Costello) and Siobhan (Curley), brothers Padraig and Richard, sisters Mary, Pamela and Elaine, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren Martin, Claire, Shane, David, Jonathan, Ríonagh, Laoise, Josh and Nathan, in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends.

Reposing at Flynn's Funeral Home, The Strand, Athlone, on Friday evening from 5pm until 7pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday in St Mary's Church at 12 noon followed by burial afterwards in Coosan Cemetery.

Breda's family are still very conscious of the fact that Covid is still present, and would appreciate if social distancing, face covering and no hand-shaking was practiced during the funeral.
