Renowned Athlone eatery retains Michelin Bib Gourmand status
Athlone's Thyme restaurant has retained its coveted 'Bib Gourmand' status in this year's Michelin guide.
Michelin awards Bib Gourmand accolades to restaurants that provide high-quality dining while offering good value for money.
The award is just one step away from a Michelin star, and Thyme is the only restaurant in the Midlands to have received it.
It was first announced in October 2019 that Thyme was being given the Bib Gourmand status for 2020, and in January of last year the restaurant was again given the accolade for 2021.
Earlier today (Wednesday) Thyme's owner John Coffey tweeted that the honour had been retained for 2022.
He said he was "delighted" with the news, and thanked all of the restaurant's staff "who keep the show on the road."
Adam and Janya Lyons' Kin Khao Thai is the only other Athlone restaurant currently listed in the prestigious Michelin guide.
