Electric Picnic 2021 officially cancelled
Organisers of Electric Picnic have announced that the festival will not go ahead this year, stating that they have "run out of time".
The team behind the festival had previously asked Laois County Council to reverse its decision not to grant a license to hold the festival on 24-26 September, after Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan stated that he and NPHET would not have any concerns with it going ahead, but only for those who are vaccinated.
In a statement, the festival said:
"Regrettably, we have no other choice but to cancel this year’s edition. We would not be able to do the festival justice this close to show day, and it would be unfair to ask ticket holders who have stood by us throughout this pandemic to come to EP and not get the full experience they are used to and deserve."
Ticketholders will now have the option of receiving a refund by contacting Ticketmaster in the next 30 days.
Alternatively, those who wish to retain their ticket until next year can just hold on to their tickets until then.
The statement finished by announcing the dates for Electric Picnic 2022:
"We look forward to seeing you all in Stradbally next year, the 2022 edition will revert back to the original weekend on 2-4 September, 2022."
