Local music and craic from the comfort of your own couch
From the comfort of your own sofa, you can enjoy the launch of the 3rd Siamsaíocht Sesúin video featuring plenty of local talent on Saturday.
As spring comes creeping in and the days grow longer, so the longing for a bit of craic and live music is stirring in us all. Although the group cannot invite you all down to the pub for a session they are delighted to share with you the third episode of Siamsaíocht Sesúins.
This episode includes poetry from Athlone Community Radio presenter, Philomena Barry, there's top tips on how to make it through to Easter without breaking your Lenten vows, and music from Trisha Reilly.
Seachtain na Gaeilge is marked with a trip on The Viking Boat and a beautiful song from Pádraic Seoighe and Niall Teague. Later in the video, you can take a late night visit to some of Athlone's historic hotspots with Neil Fitzgibbon, Denis Mandolin and dBize band.
Listen to the latest episode soundtrack on Athlone Community Radio 88.4fm at midday on March 27. Join in the session event via the Athlone Family Resource Centre Facebook event Siamsaíocht Sesúin No 3 - Scéal, Craic agus Ceol on Facebook or check out their YouTube channel Siamsaíocht Sessions - YouTube where you also catch the previous two episodes.
Siamsaíocht Sesúins is made with funding from Westmeath County Council and Arts Council Ireland, with the support of Athlone Family Resource Centre, Athlone Community Radio and Lowe & Co in O'Connell Street.
