Esker House Women's Refuge to benefit from Athlone virtual music event
Esker House Women’s Refuge Centre is to benefit from a novel music event taking place in Athlone as part of this year’s Virtual St. Patrick’s Festival.
The free music concert, which features a whole host of local musicians including Brenda McMonagle, Ellen Costello & Co, Steve Brennan and Colin Fahy, among others, will be streamed online with Facebook Live at 4pm this Wednesday, St. Patrick’s Day, with a GoFundMe link for Esker House: https;//gofundme/3e3ee729 for those wishing to donate.
The event is being organised in conjunction with local production company, Quinn AV, which is based in Glanduff, Kiltoom and Athlone Community Radio, and is sure to be a wonderful get-together of local musical talent to honour Ireland’s patron saint and raise much-needed funds for Esker House Women’s Refuge & Domestic Abuse Support Services.
This is the second year in a row that St. Patrick’s Day festivities have been cancelled worldwide, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the organisers of the virtual music event in Athlone this Wednesday say they were delighted to be able to give some local musicians the opportunity to perform for a virtual audience given that they have not had the chance to play before live audiences for the past twelve months.
Make sure to tune into Facebook Live this Wednesday, March 17, at 4pm for a wonderful afternoon of music and to support the vital services provided to women and children at Athlone’s Esker House Refuge Centre.
The full line-up of musicians for the virtual music event on Wednesday is: Steve Brennan; Colin Fahy; Ellen Costello; Brenda McMonagle; Dessie O'Neill; Eric Nugent; Gerry Flynn and Ian Deery.
