Athlone-based air ambulance to feature on RTE's Nationwide this evening
The Athlone-based emergency air ambulance service will be featured on RTÉ One's 'Nationwide' programme this evening (Monday).
Last year, the service reached a significant milestone when it airlifted its 3,000th patient to hospital.
Formally known as the Emergency Aeromedical Service (EAS), it was launched at Custume Barracks, Athlone, on June 4, 2012, and since then has been providing life-saving aid to people with cardiac, trauma, or other medical issues requiring urgent attention.
On tonight's episode, 'Nationwide' will fly with the service and highlight the crucial help it provides to people in times of medical emergency.
'Nationwide' airs on RTE One at 7pm, and can also be viewed on the RTE Player.
