More student accommodation planned in Athlone

A former snooker hall could be transformed into student accommodation, new plans indicate.

Cloudview Properties Ltd has signalled its intention to apply to change the use of a snooker hall at the old Dublin Road at Kilmacuagh into new student units, a newly-published planning notice shows.

In all, three four-bed units are earmarked for the site, the notice says, with unit one measuring (126sqm), unit two (142sqm) unit three measuring 146 square metres or 1,571 square feet, including kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms, ensuite bathrooms and public/private open space.

A full planning application must be submitted to Westmeath County Council within a fortnight of the publication of the planning notice.
