Mayor welcomes investment in Connaught Gardens
The Mayor of Athlone Cllr Aengus O’Rourke has welcomed the completion of improvement works in Connaught Gardens estate.
Speaking about the completion of the works, he said:
"I am delighted to see the results of the two-year programme of works coming to a conclusion with great results in Connaught Gardens.
"I proposed in 2019 that we carry out a number of improvements in Connaught Gardens. Following on from that, the council agreed to resurface the road, re-line the road, put down new footpaths and carryout repairs to the monument on the green area between the houses and the Priory Church.
"I accepted that this would take two years to fund and implement. Just under two years later this work is now almost complete.
“I would like to thank the residents in Connaught Gardens who have been very cooperative and who are in the process of setting up a new residents association in order to build on the good work carried out by the council in recent years,” he finished.
