Westmeath's Covid-19 rate is the 3rd lowest in the country

After starting the month of November with one of the highest Covid-19 incidence rate in the country, Westmeath ends it with one of the lowest.

New 14 day figures released yesterday reveal that the incidence rate in Westmeath between November 16 and November 29 was 40 per 100,000 people; less than half the national incidence rate of 89.2 and the third lowest in the country. In total, there were only 37 confirmed cases of Covid-19 between November 16 and 29, compared to 136 between November 2 and 15.

On November 1, a little over a week after Level 5 restrictions were introduced, Westmeath had the fourth highest 14 day incidence rate in the country (360.6 per 100,000) but it dropped steadily throughout the month.

Donegal (223 per 100,000) has the highest incidence rate in the country, followed by Louth (179.2), Limerick (142.6) and Kilkenny (132). Leitrim has the lowest incidence rate (12.5), followed by Wexford (24.7), then Westmeath (40.6).
